DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

When we chose the theme for this film, we were motivated by giving the spectator the necessary information in order to open his/her mind and questions his/her realities.

In “Raymundo”, our previous film, we were rebuilding a part of Argentina’s history, looted and hidden from the new Argentinean generations by the military dictatorship (1976-1983).

In our new film, “Heart of Factory”, we want to work on the hidden and intimate side of the workers’ relationships, and show how these human relationships are decisive to generate deep changes in the social, political and economic system where they live.

This is a more universal film than “Raymundo” in a way, because the characters' conflicts are shared by millions of workers all over the world.

The search of new ways to connect us to the reality and the responsibilities and challenges that one is ready to assume are addressed by “Heart of Factory”.
Zanon workers' fight has attracted world-wide recognition. Many political organisations invited these workers to travel around America and Europe to share their experiences. Many people are looking for a different information about Zanon’s workers struggles. But most of the documents explore the current political situation without going into the genesis of the conflict.

Our goal with this film is to investigate deeply the history of Zanon's workers. We don’t want to idealise it: we analyse it through its characters’ incisive looks.
As filmmakers we do believe this would be our most important contribution to this process. We have been collaborating into its ripeness and growth and moving away of the stagnation produced by idealism.
